Scott’s the founder of the Whetstone School, where he also teaches the guitar, mandolin, and ukulele making courses. He’s been building musical instruments in the Brattleboro area since 1975, when he studied guitar making with Gib Taylor and Michael Gurian at Marlboro College. Following graduation, Scott worked as a shop foreman at Gurian Guitars, and more recently he’s worked in various capacities at Froggy Bottom Guitars.
Scott’s a dedicated teacher, and he’s taught and assisted woodworking classes at Anderson Ranch Arts Center, The Center For Furniture Craftsmanship, and The Putney School Summer Programs. Scott also has an extensive background in toolmaking and process development, and he has many years of job training experience.
